What to expect...

I want to shoot straight with you – therapy is not a linear process taking the shortest distance between START and FINISH. It is more of a curvy path with a few side trails to explore as we move toward the destination.

It will take a few sessions to get to know each other, to understand why you are hurting, and to create goals to guide our process. Then we’ll start working through those issues at your pace. Sometimes, when you’re stuck I will nudge you a bit so you can get some direction to move forward. I’ll demystify what the process will look like, so you can understand what we’ll be doing. I’ll offer you actionable tools along the way to implement into daily life. Narrowing the gap between where you are and where you want to be happens when you commit to the process of uncovering what is holding you back. I serve as a guide who walks alongside you to help and pace the journey.

Session Types

Individual Therapy

Initially, we meet for a 90 minute session to explore your story and talk about what you want out of therapy. I ask lots of questions with the goal of understanding you and what you want me to know about you. We establish a relationship, and set some goals to guide the process.

Successive sessions are uniquely based on the individuality of each client and situation. Generally, we meet weekly or biweekly. After some initial progress is made, we reassess what your needs are for continuing therapy.  Some clients continue indefinitely, and others decide they have gotten what they came for. Regardless, you can be assured that I will help you move in the direction of your goals!

Group Therapy

If you’ve hit a plateau in your individual therapy, or you realize you are lacking emotionally vulnerable and healthy relationships, group can be an excellent and challenging change of pace.

In addition to being a more affordable treatment option, group therapy is an ideal format for growing interpersonal relationship skills, like boundary setting, getting support, asking for support, trusting others, being trusted or depended on, trusting yourself, and resolving conflicts, successfully. The climate of trust found in group therapy and the constructive and supportive feedback provided by other group members will make you feel increasingly more eager to open up about your thoughts and feelings during each session. The more you collaborate and share, the more you benefit from the experience. Honestly sharing in group produces a different kind of growth than sharing privately with your therapist.

Clients often tell me that their experience in group therapy was eye-opening because they didn’t realize there are so many other people who are struggling with the same barriers, like shame, codependency, family wounds, lack of self-worth, strained relationships, and more. Group therapy can be a great complement to individual therapy.

Please reach out to me if you are interested in joining a group! At least one individual session is required before joining a group.

Other Services:

  • Christian Integrated Counseling
Both counseling and the gospel meet people where they are, to offer solutions, guidance, understanding, and hope.  As a Christian, I am prepared to offer counseling that helps individuals connect with their faith through therapy. To those who have been spiritually wounded or hold other spiritual beliefs or worldviews, I wholeheartedly respect your perspective and will honor that completely in our work. This is your journey, and I am honored to walk with you.
  • Running & Walking Therapy
As it turns out, walking and running have incredible mental health benefits. Walking/running therapy is about forward movement, both physically and metaphorically. We use walking/running to guide the talking because not only does movement inspire introspection but motion also evokes emotion. By walking/running, you elevate your mood, regulate your emotions, and experience the empowerment of taking care of yourself. You also grow in appreciation for the amazing ability of your body, mind and spirit to integrate through the action of moving. I offer running and walking therapy as an alternate way to experience therapy sessions.
